Another Grueling Game

Last night’s game was a superb pitchers’ duel.  Tonight’s game could be another of those, as Rich Hill (1-1, 2.77 ERA) goes up against Mike Leake (4-2, 2.03 ERA).  If Hill’s finger can avoid the blister while spinning the curve ball, the Dodgers could keep the Cardinals off the base paths.  Meanwhile, Mike Leake is having a fine year in 2017 with a WHIP of 0.994.

  1. Pederson will likely not be playing today due to a stiff neck caused by the crash with Puig. So who will play center field? Probably Kike Hernandez.

  2. Just watched the replay of the Joc/Bombay collision. That ball hung up in the air a long time and Joc should have been calling it all the way.

No possibility for that on the later Joc/Puig collision, as both players had to go balls to the wall to catch that one.

    • Not sure what was going on, but in both instances the “other guy” caught the ball and Joc was the guy in the way. If he’s the center fielder and the “captain” of the outfield, then he needs to have voice lessons to increase his volume. That kind of nonsense cannot happen. SOMEONE has to call the ball. LOUDLY. And then you live or die with the outcome. Collisions are the result of zero communication. It’s not like the crowd noise was in playoff-frenzy decibels.

      • “Elementary, My Dear Bums”…the basics of baseball!

Keep in mind that Pederson has plenty of speed on both sides of him now…

It may take a while to heat up the bulb/bulbs?!?!?

  3. I’m gonna try and record Hills movement on photoshop tonight…

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
He’s riding hard to catch that herd, but he ain’t caught ’em yet
‘Cause they’ve got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire as they ride on hear their cries

  5. It should be Hill Rich, because of an ill advised Nedcompoop kind of contract. At least Ned could screw it up by himself. Now we have 3 or 4 brains screwing up. Sometimes I wonder what they are thinking. Alot of times I don’t think they are thinking at all. I am miffed. And sometimes pissed at this FO. Is it just me?
    Good Grief!!!!

  6. The ability to rest pitchers, whether it be from a mysterious ailment or something showing on the surface…has been a disaster. Ryu goes to the 10 day, comes back out of tune…Urias going to extended ST has backfired so far…Maeda same deal…

Trying to get three old guys…or more, 4/5/6? To pitch as well as one mega-star has backfired too. Rich Hill has been crapola…Kazmir has been crapola…McCarthy has shown some potential, but has yet to prove he has the stamina and endurance to go the distance. Ryu has the grit and determination, but at this point may have to throw with the precision of Maddux or Kershaw?

Signing a mega-star wasn’t a guarantee that things would be better…but signing Hill, Kazmir and to some degree McCarthy was a gamblers nightmare…

Hill blows beans…nice guy though, great story behind the journey, but has been mostly crap in L.A..

It looks like Operation Bombay has hit a snag too…

Anyone ready to yell retreat and migrate back towards OKC on this front?

What a fucking letdown last night…Not just from Hill…who looked out of sync or worn down while warming up to begin the game.

But from everyone…every fucking player who laced `em up and donned OUR hallowed jersey!!

  8. I suppose pitching depth is a good thing, but how many of those guys can we actually rely on? Three? Maybe. After Kershaw, Wood has done well lately, McCarthy has been decent and his stamina has already been commented on.

I’m thinking a little time is needed to sort out the starters, which we have provided we don’t fall very far behind. Like the man said, “Pennants aren’t won in May.”
