Cody “Bombay” Bellinger

Time:  1:00pm Date: April 25, 2017 Place: Phone Booth Stadium, Gnatsville, USA

Cody “Bombay” Bellinger has just been called up to the big leagues by the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Bellinger hit 65 home runs in just over 1300 at bats in the minors.  He has been on fire in AAA Oklahoma City in 2017, hitting .343 with an on-base percentage of .429, a slugging percentage of .627, and an On-Base plus Slugging Percentage (OPS) of 1.055.  Defensively, Cody plays a mean first base, possibly better than James Loney, possibly better than Adrian Gonzalez.  Initially, he will be playing left field and center field.

The lefty Bombay will likely play left field when the opposition starts a left-handed pitcher, as Kike Hernandez will man center field on those days.  Bombay will likely play center field when the opposition starts a right-handed pitcher, while Andrew Toles mans left field.

  4. I am happy for Cody to get his chance but I will reserve judgement until I seem him play. Remember all the excitement for Joc Pederson, a player who lit up minor league pitchers and ran ragged on the bases. I like Joc, he is great defensively and when he connects he can hit the ball a mile. However, since coming to the bigs, he has had all sorts of problems at the plate and sometimes looks so out of control. He is not a base stealer. His game changed at the big league level. Once again, we are putting a lot of pressure on a young player. I hope he does well. The team needs all the help it can get.

  5. I think we should just start brewing Bombay Bellinger Beer, right now!!

We’re gonna need some catchy labels…

    Triple B Brewery!

Cook up some Farmer John Brats in the stuff.

Hell we can cook em up right on the boat.

I’ll super-glue some tongs on the boy too.

  7. Bellinger isn’t a cure all, by any means. Just another “can’t-miss” kid who may very well “miss.” This club cannot stay healthy, has zero speed, and mediocre starting pitching. As Bill Parcells said, “You are what your record says you are.”

  8. At least tonight, the Dodgers have great starting pitching, as Kershaw always does a great job at the Phone Booth.

  10. I’m really surprised they didn’t recall Thompson. He’s raised his average 28 points in the last couple of days.

    He’s now hitting .028.

    • I don’t know…I agree somethings have went awry. I think this is still a very good team, just not a team playing very good at the moment.

  14. I was about to make a smart remark about our lack of scoring, but Puig has driven in a run. No outs, maybe a big inning?

  15. This is getting old: 2 men on, no outs to begin the inning and a strikeout on ball 4 ends it without a run. Interesting how a wild pitch can affect an inning on which no runs scorerd.
