  4. I have had enough of the kvetching about the Cubs celebrating winning the World Series. They won. Good for them. Yes, it is hard to deal with this because it just so happens (really?) the Dodgers are in town and have to sit through all of this. (Remember the banner a Giants fan had flown over Dodger Stadium a few years ago.) I doubt the Dodgers need any further motivation and if the Cubs had done the same thing but another team was at Wrigley, would any of us really care? The best comment I heard is about the 108 diamonds in the championship ring. 108 represents the number of years between championships. Most of those seasons the Cubs were, to be polite, not very good. Is that what they are celebrating? Anyway, as far as I am concerned, the Cubs are now just like the Red Sox. Lovable when they lose and evil when they win. The Cubs luster is off and now there is nothing special about them, other than they are now good. The only thing that matters now is for the Dodgers to win games! If they had been able to defeat the Cubs last fall, we would not be talking about any of this.

I can understand bringing up Thompson over the other players. He was there before Segedin and has experience while the rest do not. I am sure minor league options have something to do with it as well although I agree it should be expected to promote the best player regardless of options. I am sure the Dodgers wanted Thompson to get more at bats before coming back to the big league club but this is just one example of the depth we have heard about all spring. Hopefully he can make a contribution.

  5. Second week of the season but this felt like a playoff and must win game. McCarthy and the pen were on and the double plays helped. This game sort of makes up for Monday’s game.

The play with Utley scoring from first base should be on every baseball coach’s mobile device and should be shown to players at all levels. That play was more than hustle. It demonstrates instinct and baseball smarts as well as never giving up on a potential play that most often will never happen. He assumed it would and we all saw what happened. Run out every play. Be ready for a bad bounce or throw. Take nothing for granted. That is the way to play the game.

  6. Go Dodgers!!

    Believe it or not.
This is the first glove I’ve ever purchased. Pops best friend worked for Wilson growing up. He had 4 of everything. Plus I raised 3 girly’ girls…who didnt like sports all that much.

I hope Bubba likes it 🙂
