Ten More Wins

The Dodgers second win of the playoffs will come today.  Kenta Maeda is starting against lefty Gio Gonzalez.  Maeda will need to pitch at least five solid innings giving up zero or one run.  The Dodgers offense will need to succeed against a left-handed pitcher, and continue to hit when there are runners in scoring position.  Today’s game is another early one – it starts at 1:00 pm PDT (4:00pm EDT).

  1. Trouble with this team is that no one other than Seager is stepping up their game for the playoffs. Its been the same problem throughout the years. While players on other teams step up their game, ours don’t step theirs up to match.

  3. They have to hit lefty’s. If the Dodgers cant hit them, then we are done, any team in their right mind would put a lefty in from the Bull pen to contain the Dodgers. This team is looking like the April/ May Dodgers.
That needs to change today. I Trust Maeda is rested, but is he rusted, he cant have early hiccups/ jitters today.

  4. The team took the first game in Washington. They put 12 runners in scoring position in the second game.

Would you rather have them win 3 then sit idly by until the next series begins?

  5. Maeda being Maeda in the first inning. Looks like he’ll only go four innings at this rate – 28 pitches per inning. Dodged a bullet there.

C’mon boys, let’s get some runs!

  6. Helluva job Maeda! Great time for a clutch performance with no real good option for tomorrow! If the game continues as is, the talk for Kershaw on short rest will start, but later for that. Six innings to catch these assholes.

  7. That must be why they traded for that guy. I was mildly surprised the last reserve catcher was used, but the situation calls for some action from someone, anyone.

  8. So tired of watching they guy get grass shot at his underarm and Posey washing his socks in the whirlpool. Would rather watch the Dodgers score some runs.

  9. I also have a suspicion that if Roberts were left alone he would NOT be a platoon, sabermetrics kind of guy. Seager is obviously the Dodgers MVP. But who else is young, loaded with talent, and seems to be the one guy Baker does not want to pitch to? Yep, Puig. He can change a game. Maybe the Dodgers can’t hit lefties because two of their big right-handed bats (Puig and Kendrick) can’t even get into the line-up against right-handed pitching…and when an opponent makes a pitching move to a righty, they’re pinch-hit for. Lunacy. Since when can’t righties hit righties?????

  10. So….Our production comes from a rookie and a Phillies castoff. Can’t say our lack of scoring comes as a surprise and now there will be talk of bringing back Kershaw on short rest and I say BULLSHIT to that!!! He really hasn’t had time to round back into form and it just is not right to put all back on him again. This is all to familiar. I’d love to be manager for a day, start Urias and sit the position players down and put it on them. In other words, “Get out there and hit, ASSHOLES!” Year after fucking year of this shit. We’ll see tomorrow if we have some players or not.

  11. Dear Doc Roberts: As a loyal blue bleeding Dodgers fan, I want you to become my favorite Manager, You have a long way to go to vault over Alston and Lasorda, but Im certain you can attain that with your knowledge, instinct and motivational persona. Please use your limited Bull pen wisely, unlike Monday’s game, yes, perhaps Stipling coming in after Baez for long relief would of been the choice, I will never get an answer or understand your pitching selection Monday. Regarding today, If the young Julio falters take him out quickly, I cannot bear the personal pain or the demeaning effect on young Julio in his last appearance of the season. The quick hook is essential to the morale of this team. You are aware that Kenley is tired, only in save situation should he be used, if he has anything left after his previous 5 out save and the taxing show performed yesterday. I know you and the FAZ discuss “match-ups” frequently and probably have them all set for today, but unfortunately the opposing team does not care, listen or agree with the trending analytical methods, you see poise, concentration, determination, precision and opportunity will motivate the players today. Please motivate my Dodgers, whatever match up is chosen, that this is best situation for success, not only intellectually, but emotionally. Manage well for my Dodgers, I do take this personally, it has been much too long mired in divisional despair, The Dodgers are better than this, Vinny is watching, the ghost of Alston is there, so do win, it would stop Lasorda from rolling over and having about 55K fans at the stadium think you don’t have what it takes to manage. I believe. Go DODGERS!

  12. Bad move, I think. Maybe there are no good ones to make here. We’ll know before long. More than who is pitching, it’s up to our hitless wonders to produce. It isn’t all up to Kershaw.
