Hill vs. Cueto

Rich Hill versus Johnny Cueto, #44 vs. #47, lefty vs. righty, Dodgers vs. Giants, Bum vs. Puig [oh never mind] – it just doesn’t get better than this.  Especially when the Dodgers are six games up with only twelve left to play.

Johnny Cueto (aka Johnny Beisbol) features a mix of delivery styles, from fast pitch to traditional to Luis Tiant (look away, don’t look at the batter).  Rich Hill features his 10,000 rpm curveball (okay that’s a little exaggerated, I think his spin rate is 2787 revolutions per minute, compared to the MLB average of 2370 rpm).

I expect Doc Roberts to go with a lineup heavy with left handed hitters against Cueto.  Game time temperature is predicted at 76 degrees (per accuweather).

Meanwhile, Puig making friends.

  2. Who knows, that episode last night may well be remembered as the spark that led the Dodgers to…….?
Let’s see what happens tonight against Cueto.

The Dodgers will have a challenge putting together a playoff roster with all sorts of decisions. I like Ethier; he has been in many clutch situations, obviously more than Toles. However, the fact that Andre has not played much this season and not knowing if he really can play at a high level would make me think twice. And how does Puig fit into the picture with the way Reddick has picked up his game? One thing for sure: whatever they do will upset somebody.

    • Perhaps, and I’ve tried this in the past with very limited success. But just perhaps we could start a new thread and say good-bye to Vinny one verse at a time. Each commentator pens a verse. Telling him how much he’s loved. How his stories will be cherished.

  3. Anderson??? O!M!G! Katy, bar the door!
I think my biggest concern right now is putting the giants away before the last series in sf, and two runs in two games just aint gonna get it. Assuming we get there, I’m also wondering about our offense against the better pitchers we’ll see in the playoffs. bum and Cueto are in the top tier of pitchers and not much was going on. That puts too much pressure on our staff to be perfect and that’s asking a lot.

  4. There’s no way the Boys don’t win this game tonight…No way.
    It’s not possible.
    Can’t happen.
Tonight’s gonna be a big blue party.

    Tonight they’ll “Win for Vin.”
