Hill vs. Mountain

rockymtns

Tonight Rich Hill will pitch his fourth career game at Coors Field.  The first three didn’t go so well.  Batters hit .305 against him with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, eleven walks, and just nine strikeouts.  The big question is:  Will Rich Hill’s curve ball curve at one mile above sea level?  The problem with Coors Field is not just reduced air resistance against balls flying out of the park, it’s also reduced air resistance against pitches being thrown.  This causes breaking balls to not break.

  1. So rumour wire states Puig was claimed by a team. Espn Interview, Puig states he has been humbled in AAA. He realizes he did not put the work in, actually apologizes to Donnie(and Doc) for showing up late to Meetings and BP. Realizes it is out of his control where he might play next. HMMMM September call ups coming and I dont think Puig will be among them.
Greinke goes vs the giants lets hope he can do the dodgers some good on another team.

  3. If they do drop 3, not only clowns but bad actors; take 2/3 from cubs and gnats , then lose to the rox, just bad acting. Now Act like champs not chumps. GO DODGERS

  4. Im currently 3000 feet above sea-level and my curveball won’t break. It’s also taken 50 mph off of my 4 seam fastball too. Damn thing drops 2 feet short of the plate now.

  5. According to Roberts, Seager was going to have today off anyway. Not sure about Gonzo but lately no matter who plays the Dodgers struggle against lefties. Hard to explain how the Dodgers have gotten this far but here we are. With the day-night doubleheader tomorrow it will be interesting to see how Roberts handles the lineups.

  6. A day off for our bullpen will help. I am tired of all this lefty-righty matchup bullshit.. Just play your hottest hitters and let the chips fall where they may…. These people are over thinking everything…. They just don’t seem to have baseball instincts…

  7. I’m positives the games will be played at 3:10PM and 8:10PM ET.
The MLB extra innings schedule has one game starting at 3:10PM ET. if I have to, I’ll watch the 2nd game on MLB.TV.
I hope by game time I’ll have everything right.
Also it looks like the Dodgers have switch their starters but the Rockies have not.

  10. I’ve been robbed. No game last night, so I was ready for an old fashioned double header. But noooooo!
Neither game is being shown on the Rocks feed.

I cannot help but wonder where the offense got of to. Did pretty well there for a while.

    • I submit to you that we need to overcome the “AJ Ellis effect” with the “Kike Hernandez effect” – get rid of the bum, who in spite of his versatility is still batting under .200, and that’s at the beginning of September, if you can believe that somebody can still be on a major league roster with those numbers; then we may be able to score more than two runs a game.

  11. If Rich Hill cannot pitch the nightcap due to blisters can we just forfeit the game rather than watch a 6-0 blowout featuring Bud Norris?

  12. OK yes that is the AJ Ellis effect. That may of wrangled up the clubhouse more than known. The way AJ was just dispatched. Kershaw may have second thoughts, and as a team leader, that could ripple.
Today’s worse case will still have the Dodgers one half game in First place and the Dodgers are out of Colorado.
Thinking the the Dodgers need a good RH bat vs this lefty pitching, whom might that be?
    Cant get Bruce, not Beltran

  13. This game is so action packed, I’m starting to think I’m lucky it’s not something I had to watch. But at least Howell is keeping us in the game.

  14. In reality, Hernandez, Segedin, and Culbertson could make up one third of a competitive team at a minor league level, which is probably where they all belong permanently. How they belong on a first place, and a playoff team to be, and all be in the starting lineup at the same time befuddles the hell out of me, but then I clearly don’t have the baseball acumen of this Front Office, nor possess the money making essentials of the Guggenheims, so be it. It does make for a very entertaining time, provided you’re not a Dodger fan.

  15. Now the Rockies will push all the fans out of the stadium, before they let them back in with their tickets for the second game. Couldn’t have a buy one get one free, you know. Those went out in the ’70s.

  16. If Seager is hurt, sit him down. If he tries to play through the injury, his hit tool will go down the drain and pull our playoff chances down with it.

    4. Adrian Gonzalez (L) 1B

Bud’s numbers at Coors Field – gives up BA/OBP/SLG/OPS: .405/.490/.714/1.204

    This Bud’s for you.

  19. Hey everyone. I picked up my grandson earlier, so I’m pretty busy, but have been scoreboard watching today. Which hasn’t been all that enjoyable. The 1 year old is a hoot and a handful though. The doc said I was fine. No infection just irritated skin.

    Let’s go boys…look alive!!

  20. Sure hope the FO takes note for next season that, yes you actually do need a real pitching staff to succeed.

I think this team peaked its usual month too soon. The last three games these guys are unwatchable.

  21. Reddick actually contributed. I hope he is starting to find his groove

And Doc, play Toles everyday…. Lefty or Righty.. This lefty-righty matchup shit hasn’t worked. Try something different. Go with the hot hitters. Geez!!!

  22. Saved the best for last, I guess. Toles was the obvious hero last night and I’m encouraged to see Reddick got a hit to keep the rally going.
