Have Fun & Rally On

Rally On…

Julio Urias got the job done in game one of the Milwaukee Brewers series.  He was not helped by one Pedro Baez.  He was helped by one heroic catch by Joc Pederson.  Now it’s fellow rookie Brock Stewart’s turn to show us what he has got.

From yesterday’s fun:

griz said:  “At this rate they’ll have to let Ned out of his closet so he can resume dumpster diving.”

Beav said: “I still wish they’d throw in the towel and go whole hog into the youth movement though.”

JhallWally said:  “I’d like to give our FO an enema. They are full of shit.”

messagebear said:  “I’d settle for two good prospects; one who can actually hit for some power and preferably be a catcher, the other a starting pitcher who’s not had a Tommy John surgery already and isn’t on the verge of one.”

koufax1963 wrote a song:

Id like to see the dugout in harmony
No squabbles with Puig to see
No injuries, swollen knee and all are pain free
On the bench Turner can jaw at Grandal
But on the field somebody has to call for the foul ball
The Dodgers as a team are not living the dream
Although FAZ is trying to make it seem
We all know this is not the real thing

lbirken had a lot to say – see yesterday’s post for his discussion of the front office and the 2016 Dodgers.

messagebear told the front office where to get off

jhallWally said “3 for 14 with RISP. UNACCEPTABLE!!!And unsustainable if you hope to contend for a playoff or championship…”

he added “Why is Baez still on this team. The dude sucks like a Dyson…”

Meanwhile, I’m not sure what the lineup will look like with Joc Pederson taking a rest day or two or four to let his bruised shoulder heal up.  I think (unless I didn’t count right) that puts us at zero able-bodied left handed hitting outfielders.  Get well soon, Joc.  Get well soon, Andre.

‘Twas nice to see Grandal get two RBI’s yesterday, but he still went 0-5 with four ground-balls (one for a double play) and a strikeout.  This dude is not right.  We traded away Matt Kemp and we got a catcher who hits .178.

Anyways, good luck to the Dodgers and good luck to Brock Stewart!  May he get his first major league Win and his first major league hit!  Follow Julio’s lead!

  1. Y’all probably noticed, but I didn’t – Giants have lost 3 of their last 4, including losing the first two in a four game series to Oakland. We are now just six games back…

  2. Meanwhile, our lineup (with current batting averages) looks something like this:

    Utley 2b .260
    Seager ss .297
    Turner 3b .250
    Gonzalez 1b .272
    Kendrick lf .245
    Thompson cf .238
    Grandal c .178
    Puig rf .248
    Stewart p N/A

  3. Actual lineup for tonight

    1. Chase Utley (L) 2B
    2. Corey Seager (L) SS
    3. Justin Turner (R) 3B
    4. Adrian Gonzalez (L) 1B
    5. Howie Kendrick (R) LF
    6. Trayce Thompson (R) CF
    7. Yasiel Puig (R) RF
    8. A.J. Ellis (R) C
    9. Brock Stewart (L) P

  4. Brewers pitcher Junior Guerra (no relation to Javy?) is one of the oldest rookies (age 31) that I can remember. He started in the minors at age 21, then spent an inordinate amount of time in the Venezuela Winter League.

  5. Has anyone voted for the all star game? Seager is the only position player we’ve got that qualifies and he’s too far behind to bother with it. Collins should pick him up.
I saw where a writer wants to rest Kershaw because it’s essential he pitch in the game and I couldn’t agree less. Rest? Sure, of course, but not for that dud. If Kershaw goes down, we’re screwed, simply put. Were that to happen I’d start a fire sale of large proportions. Give him all the rest he needs and then some.

    • I’m not a big fan of the All-Star game any longer. Corey does belong, but look at what happened to Kemp, Puig and Pederson afterwards. Kershaw shouldn’t pitch in the game.

    • It’s a bullshit game. The voting is all messed up – NL lineup will be dominated by the Cubs. Then they use the result to determine WS home field advantage. I stopped voting. I’ll only watch if I have nothing else better to do.

  6. The Dodgers are 1 1/2 games out in front of the wild card. The Marlins lost this afternoon, we need a loss from the Mets and the Cardinals.
But of course, we have to win.

  7. I’ve been messing around with the controls a bit. I changed the color up some and the font. It’s bigger and bolder.

    • I have really come to hate Puig. I don’t want him on my team no matter how he’s doing at bat or in the field.
I wish they hadn’t even let him in the country, and I’d be right there deporting him if that were possible.

  8. I went to grab some ice and when I return the kids thrown 40 pitches, the bases are full and…well it’s 5 nothing now. Braun just doubled. What gives, he shut em down in the 1st.

  9. If it wasn’t for that rock slide in the second inning, B_Rock may have been able to get the team through 7. Who else do they have that can get them through 7?

Hatcher can’t even get them through the 7th!

  10. Now Hatcher is REALLY BAD, and you can’t even deport him under the best of circumstances.
I would try for an extradition to the Phillies – maybe in exchange for one of their ball girls.

  11. Wouldn’t have mattered if the kid only gave up one run, he’d still be losing because this team can’t hit for shit.

This team is broken and no amount of tinkering around the fringes is going to change that fact. Either go out and fix it or sell off just about everyone and start over. The in between they’ve got isn’t worth following.

  12. Well at least the marquee tomorrow will be full of good quotes…

I’m seeing a boat theme, with messagebear and true at the helm. With some swords, a plank and a few cannonballs…

  13. Puig sucks!! This team sucks… But, the bottom line is, the FO sucks… They built this inept piece of shit they think is a contender.

If Kersh goes down for any significant time, you need to sell and go all in on the rebuild….

  14. Mike Bauman at MLB says our pitching depth is being tested. Never would have guessed. My take on the whole pitching situation is to take no chances what-so-ever with Kershaw. He’ll want to take his turn, but with our situation as it is now I wouldn’t let him go out there. If he’s healthy, fine, if not take a seat.
